Where did you grow up?
India
Why did you become a doctor and why did you choose your specialty?
I became a doctor to prevent and cure diseases in the most vulnerable population—children. I chose my specialty because it allowed me to focus on patients every day.
How long have you practiced in the Washington, DC area and what do you like most about it?
I have practiced here in Washington, DC for more than 40 years. I like the weather, the museums, and the cultural diversity of the area.
What do you most enjoy doing outside of your clinical practice, when you’re not working?
Play cricket and volleyball, read native books, and sports.
Do you volunteer? If so, where?
I do volunteer work in India.
Describe your proudest accomplishment as a provider and/or in your personal life:
As a provider, I have many proud accomplishments, including serving as part of the team who separated a set of conjoined twins, and also as part of the team who treated the child victim of the DC sniper several years ago.
If you weren’t a doctor, what profession would you most likely be doing and why?
Business, because most of my family is in that profession.
