Where did you grow up?
Montgomery Village, MD
Why did you become a doctor and why did you choose your specialty?
I was a nursing assistant in high school and absolutely fell in love with medicine. I quickly realized that the relationship between a doctor and patient is extraordinarily special and sacred. I am grateful to be able to experience this every day. I chose to become a surgeon because I love the ability to reconstruct and restore. I see it as an art and enjoy its challenges. Mostly, I love the fact that I am able to transform lives.
How long have you practiced in the Washington, DC area and what do you like most about it?
If you count residency, I've been in practice for about 6 years now. I grew up in the area and love that I have my family close by.
What do you most enjoy doing outside of your clinical practice, when you’re not working?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my daughter and husband. My parents live in Ashburn, VA so we are always together.
Describe your proudest accomplishment as a provider and/or in your personal life:
My proudest moment was graduating from medical school. I shared this moment with my family, who left their lives in Iran to start a new life here. I felt that I had made my parents proud since I knew that they felt that all their sacrifices had paid off.
If you weren’t a doctor, what profession would you most likely be doing and why?
I couldn't imagine doing anything else. I am lucky and absolutely love what I do!
